Each year, the Pikeland Public Schools Foundation awards the following scholarships to past and current graduates of Pittsfield High School. Scholarship decisions are based on student financial need, scholastic abilities, leadership qualities, service to school and community, dignity of character, and desire to further one’s education. Scholarships may be used to attend colleges, universities, trade schools, and technical or vocational schools. Dolores Cox Nursing Scholarship
The Dolores Cox Nursing Scholarship is presented in memory of Dee Cox to a PHS senior choosing to pursue a career in nursing.
Emma Reinhardt Scholarship
The Emma Reinhardt Scholarship is made possible through a generous bequest from Emma Reinhardt. She was a teacher and an active member of the Pittsfield Business and Professional Women’s Club and strongly advocated for access to education for all. This scholarship is open to current seniors and past Pittsfield High School graduates in any field of study.
Friends of Agriculture Scholarship
The Friends of Agriculture Scholarship was initiated with funds donated to support students in FFA and is presented to a PHS senior that is involved in FFA and best exemplifies the qualities of the FFA.
Gary and Linda Woods Academic Scholarship
The Gary and Linda Woods Academic Scholarship was established by the couple’s four children, Greg, Tadd, Megan, and Kendra Woods. Gary and Linda worked for 42 and 19 years respectively in the Pikeland school district and both continue to volunteer their time for the betterment of the district. This scholarship is open to current Pittsfield High School seniors pursuing any field of study.
Helen Harman Scholarships
The Helen Harman Scholarship is made possible through a generous bequest from Miss Helen Harman, who had a long career as a history teacher at Pittsfield High School and was a very community-oriented individual. These scholarships are open to current seniors and past Pittsfield High School graduates in any field of study.
Ray and Marian Stickman Scholarship
The Ray and Marian Stickman Scholarship is made possible by a generous donation from Ray and Marian Stickman who moved to Pittsfield in 1975 after retiring from farming. This scholarship is awarded to a deserving Pittsfield High School graduate who plans to attend an Illinois institution of higher education.
Tom Johnson Memorial Scholarship
The Tom Johnson Memorial Scholarship is presented in memory of Coach Tom Johnson to a PHS senior.
Wally Groom Agricultural Scholarship
The Wally Groom Agricultural Scholarship was established by the family of Wally Groom to honor his memory while supporting agricultural education. Two scholarship are awarded each year to seniors graduating from Pittsfield High School who are pursing a major related to agriculture. The scholarship will be awarded to one male student and one female student.
Warren and Vera Barrow Family Scholarship
The Warren and Vera Barrow Family Scholarship was established by the family and friends of Dr. Warren Barrow and Vera Barrow. Dr. Barrow practiced medicine in Pittsfield for 50 years, and he and his wife Vera raised four children in this community that they loved and to which they dedicated themselves in so many ways. This scholarship is open to PHS seniors pursuing any field of study.
